Items will not be transfered.

Property can be if there is an RP way to explain it; Kids, family etc...

Guilds are a different story it will be totally up to the guild owner of they want to keep the guild around or let be wiped out. As long as your new character fits the feel of the guild you can transfer it to any new character. I will not allow guild to change ownership in this case, meaning Nim White cannot give the guild to another player.

So yes to keeping your guilds, yes to keep property if you have family. But no to items.

First of all, I would like to greet everyone since this is my first appearance here!
I usually make a presentation topic as first thing in forums, but I haven't seen the proper section here so I thought to skip it and just make the greetings here Very Happy

However, back IT...even if my opinion is biased since I don't have old chars(in fact, i have none as of now Razz) I'd not mind to retire a char when beta ends, if it's better for the shard. It can't be so hard to relevel them after all, and being this a RP shard it shouldn't count too much anyway Wink
But maybe you should give some bonuses to players that got high-level chars, like a better starting equipment, since they obviously earned it in beta Very Happy

And a little question...do you have an estimate for when the Beta is gonna end? After 1.69 goes stable or do you plan on going Final with 1.68? (sorry if this has already been asked, i searched a while but found nothing)

As for an introduction thread, it is here

Though if 1.69 takes to long we will come out of beta but we hope to do it at the same time. If we do it with out. there will not be another wipe

I don't think it would be right to have some characters start out a lot higher than others once the server 'restarts'. I think the fun in playing in a beta module is it's own reward and anything else is unbalancing. I don't mind remaking characters, I don't even hesitate to reuse names, there are a lot of Sally Jones's or John Smith's in the world and there's been more than one remake of a movie or TV show with the same characters and even more than one actor playing the same one in the same version (remember Darren on 'Bewitched' ? ) and this isn't the first server some of my characters have visited, but their stories change just a little each time. On the other hand, getting too attached to a character isn't going to work at all and some of them are just going to have to get new names or a new profession or another excuse to have forgotten what they knew before and 'start over'. Really, a character is just that, and it's as easy to make a new one as find a convoluted way to make the old one fit in again, usually a lot easier.

Thank you both. Hopefully 1.69 is not too far away, since beta10 is practically a RC from what I understand Very Happy

right everyone is going to start at 3rd level no favorites.

Though you may see some higher level DM characters these characters are PC NPCs that will be there to help you the PCs and provide things like scrolls and crafting early on before there are any PCs doing this.

Sorry but I strongly disagree with this. A 'new name' or a 'new profession' just is not on for a character as disitinctive as Melilot. I will be very sorry to 'lose' her after the wipe, and I think other players will miss her too. Luckily her great-grand-daughter may inherit her bardic skill, although not her blindness .....

I've had characters on other servers that were as dear to me as yours and very involved in the way the world worked but I've retired them. That isn't going to stop me from remaking them here though Smile there's a difference when it's a new server and nobody knows them, I can even change the names and keep the stories mostly the same, but I learned the hard way what it means to be too attached to a character, both for myself and others, it can cause a lot of trouble sometimes and speaking from experience, starting a whole new world with the same characters can ruin it. I watched a server I really liked fall completely apart when it 'restarted' in it's future and players were allowed to keep the same characters, it just didn't work.

I do not see it being a huge issue here, we have a really great group of Role Players. I think it depends on the individual to make it work for them. Personally I have played the same character on may servers, I just alter the background to fit. I just like the personality of the character, the look and the build so I re-use it.

It's sort of why I'm not doing as much RP as I usually do, if there's going to be a restart I want to save the stories for later Smile on the other hand, I do like seeing how much a character changes as it meets others and ends up completely different from what I started it out as and any of my characters will RP, but sometimes it depends on what they see, I don't normally play 'evil' characters because I prefer to leave that to the DM's so if your character has a description that says "the dark menacing figure in the blackened armour with a bloody sword in his hand makes you feel uneasy" then they'll be uneasy and probably stay as far away as they can and if they see that character chatting with others who don't seem to be uneasy around it then they'll avoid them too.
