Anna Cain was born and grew up in a trashy shack in Saban. Her mother was a poor woman who had to take care of the family - Anna and her older brother Alas - alone. Anna never knew her father and her mother would never talk about him. Life was hard and Anna was used to go bed hungry. When she turned five her mother sent her out on the streets to beg for food. Her brother being a little older would contribute to the household by stealing at the marked and picking people’s pockets. The years passed and they managed to survive. Alas never was a great thief and eventually he was arrested for stealing some bread at the marked. The guards that caught Alas gave him rough treatment and Alas being a puny lad died a few hours later in the city dungeon. Anna and her mother were devastated. They went to the authorities to claim justice for the killing of Alas. They tried everywhere but nobody cared. Alas death was described as an accident and after all he was just a beggar and a thief. After that Anna lost her belief in the authorities and her mother’s death of grief a few months later filled her with a lot of hate towards everybody.
At age 14 Anna was alone caring for nobody but herself. Most of the time she would be out in the streets and dark alleys begging and stealing to survive. In the next few years she slowly changed going from stealing to robbery and burglary. She had no compassion for the people that got hurt because of her actions, only a strong belief that she only did what she had to do to survive.
One night being a little careless she was caught during a burglary at a wealthy merchant. Instead of turning her in to the authorities the proprietor tried to rape her. That was his last mistake in life. Anna always carried a dagger and she stabbed him in the throat. Anna watched him bleed to death without any regrets – he was just a piece of garbage getting what he deserved. Anna used a few hours going through the house taking everything of value she could carry with her. Her victim had a lot of friends and his death would not go unnoticed so Anna decided that I would be wise of her to leave town.
In the same night she sold the loot and with a lot of gold in her pocket she left town heading for the big city of Tanemerah. Anna is determined to make it in life or die trying, no matter what she has to do. If anyone gets in her way she will do anything even kill if she has to.

Anna has arrived in Tanamerah. She noticed that there are a bunch of people in the city who seem to make a good and exciting living out of hunting for all kinds of prey in the forests and on the plains. Also there is an ancient part of the town buried deep under the city where undeads swarm and can be killed for booty. Instead of tanking up her old way of living Anna has joined the adventures crowd and is doing pretty good for herself. She tries to give a good impression of her self so people will like her, staying alive can be tough when the fighting gets hard and she sometimes must rely on others to save her in battle.
After a few weeks in town she has realized that the people she meets and travels with are split in several fractions. Some seems to be let by a wizard of great power – Savreen. Opposite stands the Scarlet family lead by Morgrim and his sister Salara. Anna is still trying to find her place in all this and as it seems most people don’t like or trust the Scarlets she to some degree try not get to much involved with those and thereby damage her reputation.
That was working rather well, until Ramin Scarlet showed up in town. At first he looked and acted just like another loud fightertype who would charge into battle without using his brain just for the fun of killing. After a few days she realized that there are something more beneath the surface – still he IS a wild one but she likes that. They have spent a lot of time together and besides making a lot of gold they have fun doing it. Some people has noticed this and warned her against the Scarlets and she knows the bright thing to do would be staying away from Ramin. But she can’t do that even though she knows that her reputation already is somewhat jagged and some people who she used to get along with avoids her. Anna, who has cared for none but Anna since her mother’s death, has realized that no matter how unwise it is – she cares a lot for Ramin. Every time he shows up she gets this warm feeling that makes every other thing unimportant.

Anna is in trouble – the ones that gets you killed. She was trying hard not to take sides, not to stick out and just find her place in this small word – and she has failed. The Scarlet family has noticed that Ramin likes her. One day they passed her up by the smugglers cave. The head of the family, Morgrim, consider her to be nothing but a stupid girl but at the same time he thinks she might course trouble for the family because of her close relationship with Ramin. Anna doesn’t like Morgrim but she respects his power and telling him to get lost could be very dangerous. Morgrim wants to test her loyalty to the Scarlets - and he will judge and decide if she is worthy of Ramin and if she is to be trusted. Anna has no loyalty for the Scarlets as a family what so ever – she could not care less. Her loyalty lays only with Ramin. To prove her loyalty they have given her a task – kill Anah. Not an easy task, Anna has seen Anah deal with some bandits, she is dangerous. But that’s not the issue – Anna doesn’t care whether Anah lives or dies, it means nothing to her – but this is stupid stupid stupid. If she succeeds in killing Anah she will be hunted down and killed by Ferlorn, Savreen or somebody she don’t even know and if she don’t do anything Morgrim, Salara or perhaps that idiot Ulic will kill her. Either way she will end up dead. And on top of this Anna has noticed that she sometimes gets followed, at one time she saw Strowulf even though he was trying to hide from her – and Strowulf is one of Savreens friends. Anna need to find Ramin and fast or she fears her life will soon be over.

Anna has met in secret with Ramin. Even if the things look bad she was happy to see him, he hugged her and for a few seconds she forgot why she was here. She was glad to know that Ramin is against the killing of Anah. She will not kill Anah it would be suicide. Together they formed a plan. They will no longer be seen together in public. Ramin will try and convince Morgrim of his loyalty to the Scarlet family and that he no longer has any interest in Anna. Hopefully that will get the Scalets of her back. At the same time Anna will try to get closer to Savreen and the people around him – that could be a hard task. She is sure they don’t trust her, but so far she has done nothing wrong so maybe she can convince them that she is not in with the Scarlets. She is still troubled by one thing – does she warn Anah? If she don’t Morgrim might have somebody ells kill her and Anna would be perfect to blame for the crime…and if she do warn her – what will happen? She don’t care if the Scarlets are wiped out but Ramin is also a Scarlet and he must not be harmed. She has yet to figure out how to handle this.

Yesterday I came across Savreen at the inn in Tanamerah he was polite and asked to my well being. Since I am trying to get on good terms with him and his friends I talked to him. He told me that he has learned that Ramin I going to leave the Scarlet family and asked if I could verify it. I said no – this is disturbing news, if rumor spreads I fear for Ramin’s life – Morgrim will never accept that. Savreen has promised me that he and his friends – Moria and Forlorn, will come to my aid if I need it. I wonder how much that promise is worth should it come to that. Later I bumped into Ramin who told me that Savreen is out to get him and the entire family, even though Ramin saved his life. Savreen is a twofaced coward, but I have to stay on good terms with him. I only hope that Ramin can handle the situation.
I try to avoid the scarlets but yesterday the place was swarming with them. As far as I can tell they do believe that Ramin has dumped me. Salara was being polite about it as she always is, Morgrim was arrogant as usual and the bastard Ulic was rude. I have to be more careful with Ulic. Every time we meet he makes me loose my temper – that’s not wise. I would like to place my kukri in his back and watch him bleed – but I am sure I would be the one who would be doing the bleeding if I try. I hear Moria is out to get him, I hope she succeeds. I miss Ramin and our exiting trips – but I guess that can’t be helped for the moment. I wish Morgrim and Savreen would kill each other that would make things so much easier.

My efforts to avoid the Scarlets have not succeeded. The place is crawling with them. Yesterday I came across Morgrim, Salara, Vlad, Ulic and Ramin at the Saban Inn. Ignoring them would have made me look afraid and I would not give the bastard Ulic that victory. So when Salara invited me to their table I accepted. Much to my irritation Ramin started to flirt with the serving wench, and he used a lot of time with her in the kitchen. I will have to ask him a few questions about that next time I see him. But I am glad I stayed, it turned out to be an interesting evening.
Some sailor guy killed another sailor in a knife fight and after that he kept harassing Ulic – he must have been a genuine idiot to do that. As soon as he got the chance Ulic killed the sailor. We should all have been wise enough to leave at this point, but we did not, and then some captain of the guards showed up. The captain interrogated Ulic, Salara and me and had a Justicar investigate the crime scene. In the end Ulic was arrested for murder and taken to Tanemerah for the trial.
We needed fresh air after that and went outside – actually we went down in the Saban Crypt for some reason. Here I was offered a job by the Salaras. At first I was a bit worried, but everything seemed well planed – and on top of this - I did not think it wise to refuse, being alone in the crypt with Morgrim, Salara, Vlad and Ramin. I did the job – it went rather smoothly, even though I still need to be faster. I was tempted to teach the serving wench a lesson at the same time, but she turned out to be in on the job, so I kept my temper. One thing I can say – the Scarlets are not the grasping kind – they pay very generously for ones service.
Back in Tanemerah Ulic was on trial for murder. He did not seem worried though, he kept making jokes and showing contempt of court. Vlad rather elegantly tried to discredit the Justicar but with no luck. In the end Morgrim, seeing where things where going, asked the court to take Ulic’s youth into consideration. But at the end Ulic received a death sentence for the murder. He is going to hang in three weeks time. Well I will not cry over him, but it’s a stupid thing to die for and I do feel a little sorry for Salara who seems to love her brother. Moria will be pleased when she hear the news. I am sure that the lifespan of the captain of the guards and the Justicar has been heavily shortened by this – the Scarlets do not forgive.

Yesterday I met yet another member of the Scarlet family – Belial. Is there no end to number of this family? Belial is charming, polite and very deathly – not only do I not trust him, I am also a little scared of him. If he finds he has no use for me anymore he will kill me. He is also hitting on me – he will have no luck. After Ramin I know exactly how the Scarlet men are. If he or any other of them wants female company I suggest they look in the city sewers, there I am sure they could find something suitable. The Scarlets seem to be controlling my every move these days – I assume next step will be telling me how to dress. If this doesn’t pass I will have to leave this town. I will work for them, but I will not be a puppet in a string – especially not if Belial is holding the leash.
Later a wealthy man from Tanamera showed up – he was looking for volunteers to go and investigate a cave in the Finisterre Mountains. He was accompanied by Fenrir – the guy who always is looking for a shirt. I like Fenrir – he is apparently mad to some degree but he is funny and the most attractive guy I have seen in this town so far. To bad he always seems to disappear into thin air. Well we – that is Belial and I and a lot of other adventures types decided to take on the job. The man paid well so it was not the right time to picky about the company.
After some minor encounters with the Ogres in the area we found the cave. There where some kind of gate in the cave and from it came waves of earth elementals. I must say I was glad Belial was there, his spells do protect one well. The fighting was hard – but having to listen to Cassandra’s self-righteous blabber was worse. She even accused us for not wanting to fight in the front line – well excuse me, but I am sure she doesn’t know how it feels to be hit smack in the face by some huge elemental – it hurts, she should try it herself instead of whining about others no doing their job properly. I don’t see things the way Strowulf and Shayelle do, but at least they don’t complain when they bleed and it hurts. I respect that. Finally the spellcasters among us succeeded in closing the gate. Nobody could answer the question to where the gate came from. I tried to tell the rest about the odd fellow with the scythe who had shown in Tanamera some time ago. I remembered him saying something about the Old One and bringing the elemental plane into the prime just before he threw that balroc in our faces. Only a few where listening I think, I guess you would have to dress like a cow to be taken seriously by most in that company. Well I told them to speak to Vlad Scarlet if they wanted to learn more – he is a wise man, and I think he would be able to explain it better than me.

Yesterday turned out to be quite an interesting one. Apparently Strowulf had told Anah that the Scarlets wanted me to kill her. Anah and I had a long talk – at fist I was quite nervous, but it turned out fine. I told her the truth and she seemed to believe me. I hope so, at the moment Anah and Gidelle is the only ones who don’t seem to avoid my company. Life here is a lot easier with friends, so I try hard not to offend anyone, in particular Anah and Gidelle.
Later that day we went looking for a Halfdragon. Anton had heard some stories about a halfdragon living on the plains. I have never seen – or even heard of half dragons so I was very thrilled. Well we did not find a halfdragon, what we found was some Manticores and a lot of undeads who gave us a hard time. In the end we killed them – or whatever you do to them. The party seemed to work well together so we decided to go on and thin out the number of lizard men. The lizard men where stronger than usually, even the chief was there – well they need a new one – again.
Later when we where resting at the inn in Tanamerah, some guy rushes in and tell a story about orcs attacking Saban. Saban is my hometown but my memories are bad – so I really didn’t care that much. All the others where ready to go in no time and since spilling orc blood is one of my favourite waste of times I went with them. That way I could also make a good impression on Anthony – a paladin who showed up and seemed a little suspicious of me. What is it with me? do I smell bad or what – I wish I was like Anah or Gidelle – nobody ever seems to question there motives. Maybe it’s because of there looks.
When we arrived in Saban we where asked to find an explanation on how the Orc’s where able to attack from both east and west. I wasn’t to happy about it – I wish Ramin was there, we where a little thin on the fighter side but at least we had the spells of Anah, Gidelle, Alias and Darius to protect us and clear the way. We where lucky the orc’s where either stupid or had underestimated us – most of them where ordinary troops and no match for us, but there where a few elite troops, those archers and warriors are very dangerous and did bring on some trouble for us. Finally we found some secret tunnel that led all the way to the smugglers cave outside Saban. That explained how they were able to attack from both sides. We decided to tell the guards in Saban about our discovery – that turned out to be harder than we thought. We where under attack all the way back to Saban – but everybody did well and we all made it back to safety. Sadly that paladin guy, who I must admit is no coward, even when the fighting gets tough, made it to. I would not have wasted one of my scrolls on him unless I absolutely had to. Back in Saban we where met by some council woman who gave us the usual blabber about heroes and so on – I didn’t give a damn, I just hope they remember that I am one of the heroes if I ever get in trouble of some kind.

A few days ago orc's where spottet by Strowulf just outside Sandow. We where a large party setting out to get them - i can't remember all, but Strowulf and my friend Anah was there and so was a powerfull person that i don't know very well, Emberlynn is her name. We found the orc's outside the gates of Sandow and defeated them. Strowulf followed there tracks and we ended up fighting orc's all the way to the deep forest in the north. Most of them where ordinary troops, but there where some elite troops among them. We all did well and in the end all the areas where cleared.
Later i went back to Tanemerah to rest. But I could not sleep - i kept thinking of the fighting - i have suddenly realized that i will never get any better. I have trained hard for a long time and i have come a long way, but now I have reached my limit. No matter how hard I train I will not be able to push my abillities any further. Its depressing to know...

I am trying to stay sharp - today I practiced my skills at the lizard men and after that the ogres in the mountains. It was here i suddenly found myself in an area unknown to me. I was being carefull and without getting noticed i spotted some huge creatures - i was later told they are called Frost Giants. I tried my skill at one of them - but even though the are the biggest creatures I have attacked i didn't have much luck - finally i had to give up and leave - frustrating.
Back in Tanemerah I ran into Nicolai and Avienda. Nicolai has sold me a few usefull items and I am always nice to him - it never hurts to be on good terms with a skillful spellcaster. I am not sure what he thinks of me, but he is always polite. He and Avienda told me of their experience with the frost giants - but the most interesting part was the book Nicolai had gotten from his homeland. It was a story about dragons - I dont know much about dragons - but I have heard stories of dragon Hordes - gold and treasures in huge amounts, so I did listen to him. The book told of a dragon by the name Crystallion - a great white dragon. According to the book Crystallion was never killed and haven't been seen for almost a 1000 years. Avienda then told us that she had seen a great white and grey dragon some time ago - can't be that many dragons around so maybe Crystallion has returned. But thats not all - she told us that Moria, a great warrior, who was found dead in the plains not long ago, was last seen in the compagny of Krystal. Krystal is a strange one - every one agreed on that - but Avienda was thinking Crystallion - Krystal, its almost the same name. According to Nicolai's book Dragons are able to change their shape into something more descret - like an elf or human. But why would a dragon return after a 1000 years to kill a warrior like Moria? In Nicolai's book there where a note that told a story of four heroes from Tanemerah, Moria, Thaedrin, Dert and Zack that killed a dragon in the Finesterre Mountains. Maybe the two dragons where kin and maybe Moria was killed for revenge. If thats the case Crystallion might still be around she still needs to kill the rest of the heroes.
Now where would a dragon hide or - more importent, where would it hide its gold and treasure? - in a cave, dragon always do that everybody knows. I cant get that gold out of my head - i will have to travel to every cave i know of just in case...and if i get lucky i hope Crystallion is out killing some old hero at the time.

I have spent the last few days visiting all the caves I know of from the troll cave in the south to the big caves in the Finisterre Mountains. I have found no sign of a dragon. Instead I found lots of ogres, giants, trolls and vampire bats. Its frustating I cant get that dragon horde of my mind.
In one of the caves I did discover something interesting - half burried in the dust and dirt on the cavefloor there where several skeletons - it must be the remains of some huge creatures - judging from the size of the old bones it most have been dragons. I think this cave must have been the lair of at least three dragons, but it was a long time ago. Looking at the huge skeletons maked me think - what if I had found the right cave - dragon and all, my kukri's would not have been of much use to me. I have to get that treasure of my mind and start using my brain here. I have no use of treasures if i am dead. One more strange thing - this cave is the biggest i know of, outside the place i filled with ogres, but inside - only vampire bats and some small bugs - why dont the ogres go inside? Next time i see Avienda I will tell her what I found, she is smart and maybe she can come up with an idea. If only i could get my hands on that dragon horde i could quit this life - no more killing for a little gold - risking my life almost every day. I could have my own castle and let the others do the dirty jobs.

Well talk about risking my life - today those frost giants almost got both Avienda and me - we where actually doing quite well until some giant with magic abillities showed up....then we didn't look that great anymore. Now I am sitting here in Num For and my whole body hurts from the beating. That was not wise and the frost giants was not even our target....
This morning i got up real early - I still cant keep my mind of that dragon story. I decided waste time killing some bandits and went for the Num For area since there almost always are some here. I think they rob the people that travels the road between Num For and Port Smith. Not that I care about that, but killing bandits and collecting the loot dont get you in trouble with the law - nobody cares. I know that from my youth in Saban. On my way there i ran into Avienda and she told me she had already cleared the whole area for bandits - I was not happy about that, but on the other hand I was lucky to see her so i could tell her about my search for the dragon lair.
She told me that it was stupid to go alone - what if I had found the dragon. She suggested that we organised a big and well armed party before we went looking for any dragons. She was right of cause. But when I told her about the interresting cave - the one with skeletons, she seemed to forget being careful herself and she suggested that we went up there. She thinks that the smell of dragon might be the reason why no one uses the cave besides vampire bats and bugs - I dont think dragons are choosy about their food but i cant imagine a dragon eating vampire bats or bugs - its not worth the effort. Well if she wanted run the risk of meeting an angry dragon I was not going to spoil the fun and we started out for the cave. We killed a few ogres on the way - Avienda's spells and me doing a little sneaking made it pretty easy. I think we got a little carried away, so instead of going directly towards the cave we decided to show some frost giants the serious side of life before going to the cave....and now I am sitting here in Num For...

I am still alive but only thanks to Rose Blackthorne. I needed her skill several times down i the orc cave. That's a dangerous place. I think I was getting a little careless after we had been fighting lizard men, bandits and giants with ease- I must remember never to underestimate an enemy, I have a tendency to do that.
While we where out there we met a man I had never seen before. He calls himself Cuts. I am not sure what to think of him - he eats raw meat, talk a lot about blood and says he likes to hear screams...hmm - told him I would kill him if he tried to make me scream. Says he grew up down in the sewers - that would make anyone a bit strange I guess. He fights like me, and he did a good job down in the orc cave. Maybe he is okay...

A few days ago I met Belial in Saban. It has been a long time since I last saw him – and much to my surprise I was actually happy to see him. At least with Belial you always know what to expect – he thinks only of him and the family, nothing ells matters. I noticed that he has covered that bonearm of his with flesh witch has greatly improved his looks. He took me on a journey to the desert. I had never seen it before so that was fun. As always when traveling with Belial things went smoothly – ogres, giants and frost giants – no problems at all, he is the greatest spellcaster I know. Afterwards he asked me if I still was willing to work for him. I told him I was. He has power and I think it wise to be on good terms with him – I am not going to rule the world, but being close to someone who might can’t hurt.
Yesterday when I was going for the lizard men, I met a new face - Ben Dover. He is small but he is deadly and he fights a little like me – he uses surprise against his enemies. He even uses kukris like me, not many does. He and a friend of his, Sywyn - who is a member of the guards, where already in the area hunting lizard men, so we joined forces. Ben asked me about a person by the name of Regan – I know her, but not well and I told him so. I warned me that she is a thief. She had tried to steal from him, but he noticed it, and she paid a high prize for that mistake – I bet his kukri’s leave some nasty scars. I would never try to steal from someone as sneaky as Ben – in fact I have given up that trade – it pays little compared to the risk of being detected.
Afterwards we met up with another one I never seen before – her name is Leaf and we went further east killing giants. We where working well together and decided to try our luck on the trolls, which went well to. After having cleared the whole area we went back west and stopped at the troll cave in the hills. Killing the first 2 – 3 trolls went well, but then things got messed up. Ben and Leaf got killed – and I who never knew that trolls could hit at a great distance skewed up and got in trouble and suddenly all went black…when I retained my consciousness I was laying on green grass back in Tanemerah. Some god must have decided that my life was worth saving…

I ran into Salara yesterday. I haven’t seen her for a long time. She told me she was wanted by the Empire for the murder of someone who’s name I have forgotten. My first thourgt was - one could make a little gold by bringing her in. But on the other hand one would have to spend them fast – Morgrim and her husband would see to that. That is if one survived in the first place – Salara is tough. Besides I have always tried to stay on good terms with the Scarlets. I have made some gold on that in the past.
We decided to travel together – I was thinking since we was planing on going north into the desert nobody would see us together, so traveling with a known criminal would not get me in trouble. Well I was wrong. We where spottet by a group of Impiriel guards just outside Num For – they gave us no choise but to fight. Unfortunately I am not sure we killed them all, so now the guards might be looking for a nice looking blond in a black outfit too. Damn it and I who have been so careful in the past – I must be getting old. Well done is done....and Salara and I did have some fun getting the Emperiel guards ambushed by the Red Hands in the pass and afterwards killing the desert creatures.
Later I met a woman all dressed in blue...and that’s her name too or so she says. There is something strange about her, but who cares. I needed some rest and she wanted to go fishing, so we went fishing. She is not bad at it – but I am really really good...I event caught a bag of gold. While we where fishing and a little to my surprize, actually had a god time, two persons showed up – Alliance and a little thing who called herself Snowflake...what kind of name is that? After some talk we ended up in the desert again...more killing...I think I have seen enough sand for some time. But I had a little talk with Alliance. It seems he don’t get along with the Empire either. I shall remember that – it might be useful.
Now I need some rest. Tomorrow I will buy a new outfit and maybe do something about my hair.
